What to Expect

What Happens When You Hire a Criminal Defense Lawyer?

If you’ve never had a criminal defense attorney before, the first meeting can feel intimidating. Just remember that I work for you. I’m on your side. Here’s what you should know about working with me:

You Can Call or Text Me Anytime

If it’s the middle of the night and you’ve just been charged with a crime, don’t hesitate to contact me and request representation. Call or text (804) 250-4380, anytime, for a free consultation.

Our Conversations Are Confidential

Virginia law protects attorney-client privilege, which means that exclusive communications taking place between a client and his or her attorney must not be revealed to others. There are a few exceptions to the privilege rule, but basically, it means I’m forbidden from disclosing anything you tell me in confidence, and no court can compel me to reveal such information.

You Can Ask Me Anything

The Virginia legal system can be complicated. If you have questions about the charges you’re facing, the bond process, how Virginia courts work, or anything at all, I will do my best to explain.

You’ll Always Know Where Your Case Stands

There’s a whole lot of hurry-up-and-wait when you’re preparing a case, but I keep my clients informed so they know exactly what’s going on.

I Won’t Nudge You to Take a Plea Deal

While many cases do plead out, I never push clients to take a plea deal. It’s always your choice, and either way, I’m with you 100 percent. Even if you change your mind at the last minute, I’ll be prepared to go to trial.

I Strive to Set Affordable Rates

I believe everyone’s entitled to fair representation, and so I provide affordable legal counsel to all my clients. I charge a simple, flat fee – I don’t bill by the hour. I’m upfront about the potential costs of pursuing different avenues with your case.
